The handle and bottom are raised and textured to resemble lacquered bamboo. This was part of the original pieces commissioned by SHAG for the 40th anniversary fo the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland in 2003. The bottom has signs of wear along the edge of one quadrant and there is a tiny chip there as well. These are not visible unless you literally flip the mug over to look for it.
